These are questions that many Christians wonder about. The answer, of course, is very simple. It is, Jesus really existed, walked our land. Jesus is as a historical figure.

Jesus Christ was born c. 8-4 B.C. in Bethlehem. He died about 30 or 33 A.D. in Jerusalem. According to the Bible (and more specifically to the The New Testament) Jesus was born as a son Mariawho married Joseph. The Sacrament of Baptism was administered by Jan, later called the Baptist.

Over the actual existence of the character Jesus research has been conducted for many years. There are 3 main waves of them. The most recent research began in the 1970s. The life of Jesus is very well documented in both Christian and non-Christian sources. Considering the period in which he lived these sources are quite accurate. The most common facts of Jesus' life that have been recognized by historians are both baptism via St. John the Baptist and, above all, being sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate and the crucifixion of Jesus. The basic facts given by Gospel also meet with the approval of historians. These facts include, among others, the period in which the Jesus Christ. This is the period of the reign Herod. The fact that Jesus was arrested in Jerusalem seems to be just as authentic. It also all has to do with the conviction Mr. to death on a cross. Death on the cross itself was a punishment commonly used by the Romans at the time. Major inconsistencies arise, among other things, in the realm of the place of birth Christ. Many historians unanimously point to Nazareth, while Bible tells us about the birth in Bethlehem. However, these are considerations that only confirm the authenticity of the character Mr. Jesus.

Less certain facts, however, which are also accepted as true by the vast majority of historians, are, for example, the fact of the calling of the apostles, or at least the conflict with the Temple (the so-called cleansing of the temple). According to scholars, the area of operation also agrees Mr. Jesus as she was Galilee (from which Jesus came) and, most notably, in later times, Judea.

Throughout all of these reflections, five major images describing Jesus from the point of view of history were developed.

  • Prophet apocalyptic - Jesus is shown as prophetwho wants to prepare the Jews for the coming end times.
  • A charismatic healer - Jesus was found in this vision to be peaceful man of spirit, a mystic or visionary who is known for healing
  • Philosopher - cynic - Jesus is seen in this case as an itinerant sage and philosopher who is to preach a radical message of overthrowing the existing hierarchical community of society of the time. All of Jesus' possessions fit into a traveling bag, and he himself owns nothing and is a free man.
  • Jewish messiah - Jesus comes to announce to the Jews the end of of spiritual exile and usher in a new era in which God is to fix the world with believe of his people
  • Prophet social change - Jesus in the painting is depicted as the one who wants to undermine the entire social structure of the time. However, this is not related to the coming apocalypse

Both according to learned historians such as Geza Vermes, John P. Meier, E.P. Sanders as well as many of the most important lay people and church there's no doubt about it whether Jesus existed i whether Jesus is a historical figure.
