It would be difficult to find a more recognizable image of the Mother of God for Poles than that of Czestochowa. Countless graces have been asked through her intercession, as well as through her help<\/a> many miracles have occurred. As we sing in one of the songs, \"There is a corner on this earth where everyone wants to return, where her face reigns, on it cut features two.\" There is an interesting term in its refrain, which we will lean on a little more today. Why the Black Madonna?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The image of Our Lady of Czestochowa is very often reproduced. It often appears on the pictures given by priests during pastoral visits. As we have probably seen Mary's skin colour is not typical for Slavic countries or even for European countries - it is dark and distinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to historians, the creation of the image of Our Lady with dark skin may have resulted from copying an effigy which no longer exists. Today it is impossible to fully investigate the history of the image and the motives of its creators, but thanks to its original appearance Our Lady of Czestochowa belongs to the list of her outstanding representations.
