Although our western neighbors have similar aesthetics or rather symbolism of the event (Easter eggs, egg shells or the Easter bunny), in the celebrations themselves <span id=\"urn:enhancement-c7eef70c\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01378\/entity\/swieto\">holidays<\/span> we will find some differences. It is also worth noting that Easter traditions will also differ between different regions within Germany itself (the so-called L\u00e4nder), due to the diverse populations and historical past of these territories.<\/p>\n<p>Just like in our country, Germans treat the time of preparations for Christmas very seriously <span id=\"urn:enhancement-905c3bea\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/wielkanoc\">Easter<\/span>. This is the first basic difference between us and our neighbours. Gr\u00fcndonnerstag, because that's what Green Thursday is called there <span id=\"urn:enhancement-146f9759\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/czwartek\">Thursday<\/span> Its name probably derives from medieval times, when this very word was used to call penitents. The color green is also associated with the robes that priests wear on that day. Green <span id=\"urn:enhancement-b2066df0\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/czwartek\">Thursday<\/span> is associated in Germany with painting eggs green. In some parts of the country, we may also come across the custom of eating green foods like lettuce, spinach, chives and similar vegetables on this day.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Wielki_Piatek_obchodzony_w_Niemczech\"><\/span>Good Friday celebrated in Germany<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Good Friday for Germans is a day of special prayer. A basic rule between us and our neighbors follows from this, as in Germany <span id=\"urn:enhancement-c976aa52\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/wielki_piatek\">Good Friday<\/span> It is also a public holiday. You may also come across the name Silent Friday (Stiller Freitag) however, it is mostly just Karfreita (<span id=\"urn:enhancement-1f66b307\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/wielki_piatek\">Good Friday<\/span>). There is a custom of holding a communal meal then, which consists of bread, water and wine. This event is called agape. Germans, however, are not in the habit of observing a strict fast on this day.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Wielka_Sobota_obchodzona_w_Niemczech\"><\/span>Holy Saturday celebrated in Germany<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Karamstag - or the Great <span id=\"urn:enhancement-1387a705\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/sobota\">Saturday<\/span> (sometimes also Stiller Samstag - Silent <span id=\"urn:enhancement-e09a9b80\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/sobota\">Saturday<\/span>) is a day of very similar importance as in the country on the Vistula River. <span id=\"urn:enhancement-cc91839f\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/sobota\">Saturday<\/span> is a day of silence and contemplation. There is no celebration on this day <span id=\"urn:enhancement-ea9e4246\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01378\/entity\/msza\">mass<\/span> saint. Germans do not have (as we Poles do), the tradition of <span id=\"urn:enhancement-d188f47e\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/holy_orders\">ordination<\/span> dishes and Easter baskets. In some states (mainly those in the north) <span id=\"urn:enhancement-c5af7001\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01378\/entity\/parafie\">parishes<\/span> cultivate the tradition of lighting huge bonfires in front of buildings <span id=\"urn:enhancement-f50283f7\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01378\/entity\/kosciol_budynek\">churches<\/span>. During this event <span id=\"urn:enhancement-3bdefc50\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01378\/entity\/prezbiter\">priests<\/span> saints <a href=\"https:\/\/chrystus.pl\/en\/jak-wyglada-pieklo-2\/\">fire<\/a> to then light the Paschal candles from it to the <span id=\"urn:enhancement-651ebd8b\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01378\/entity\/kosciol_budynek\">church<\/span> and the faithful light their Easter candles.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Niedziela_Wielkanocna_obchodzona_w_Niemczech\"><\/span>Easter Sunday celebrated in Germany<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span id=\"urn:enhancement-a680d847\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/wielkanoc\">Easter<\/span>. The day begins with <span id=\"urn:enhancement-4f6b3a23\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01378\/entity\/msza\">mass<\/span> Resurrection, celebrated early in the morning. At breakfast, Germans cultivate the custom of tapping each other with eggs. Easter candles burn on the tables, next to which sugar bunnies are placed. After breakfast, German children are engaged in searching for hidden Easter eggs and sweets. The main course on German Easter tables is roast mutton. It is accompanied by a variety of cakes and <span id=\"urn:enhancement-92263c9e\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/slodycze\">sweets<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span id=\"urn:enhancement-8b907bcc\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01857\/entity\/poniedzialek_wielkanocny\">Easter Monday<\/span><\/strong> is a day of ordinary rest. Germans do not know the concept of Smigus-Dyngus and spend this day in total relaxation.
