The subject of sins is definitely more expansive than it might seem without a decent exploration of the matter, of course. Sam Jesus Christ He also pointed out those that will never be forgiven - these are sins against the Spirit. How do we understand and distinguish between them?

To confirm exactly what the sins against the Spirit are, and to find out how many there are, one must consult the 50-page Catechism of St. Pius X, published in 1908. It lists exactly six items, which, translated from Italian into Polish, are:

  • of acknowledged Christian truth to oppose,
  • against the mercy of God, to sin so boldly,
  • about the grace of God to despair,
  • to deliberately persist in unrepentance,
  • To salutary admonitions have a hardened heart,
  • to envy your neighbor the grace of God.

The characteristic with which sins against the Holy Spirit are associated is their unforgivability. The essence lies in the fact that every person who commits them is actually deliberately moving away from conversion, as it were, denying the power of repentance and God's grace.

Turning away from the Holy Spirit therefore also occurs for those who do not believe in the possibility of salvation as such. On the opposite side of the scale are those who have an exaggerated confidence that they will make it to paradise. Such confidence, which is inherently false, is one of the easiest paths to damnation. It is worthwhile, therefore, to lean into the subject of sins against the Holy Spirit, and to make sure that, by their conduct, they never fall into any of the paths mentioned above.
