How to join a religious order? First of all, a number of formal and informal requirements must be met. On the technical side the most important thing is to contact the superior of the order. During the conversation we must, of course, express our desire to join the order and justify our decision - what made us decide to take such a step.
Before the authorities of the order make a decision about accepting us into their ranks, a verification stage awaits us. We will be scrutinized mainly in terms of faith. How religious we are; are we ready to entrust the rest of our lives to the service of God? Moreover, the motives of our actions will be analyzed. Why do we want to enter a religious order? Do we find ourselves in a difficult life situation? Are we not acting under the influence of emotions?
It is a good idea to be psychologically tested before joining a religious order. Some monks live in seclusion; without contact with people. They devote their whole life to prayer; searching for God and the truths of faith. This is an extremely difficult mission, which is also a heavy psychological burden. Not everyone will be able to cope with it. The decision to enter a religious order also involves the rejection of comforts and the abandonment of thoughts of starting a family. You need to seriously consider your vocation and decide if you are ready to accept this lifestyle.
