Platonic love is defined as a specific bond between two people who strive for spiritual connection. It is friendly, full of fidelity and tenderness and friendship, but lacks carnal aspects.

In ancient Greece, people believed in many deities. According to Plato, it was jealousy of the ideal love that only the gods were able to wring out that made people seek love not only eros, but also as a kind of spiritual connection - without physicality.

Is platonic love a sin?

Platonic love can be a sin. It occurs when, even in the absence of carnal contact, we engage in a relationship with another person while being married, for example.

Christ said: Anyone who looks lustfully at a woman has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Mt 5:28.

Thus, one can commit treason in one's heart. Jesus indicates that adultery does not have to be exclusively cohabitation. Platonic love with another person when you are married is a sin.
