Like litany in august? August is mostly associated with vacation, rest and recreation. It is, however, a very important month for all Catholics. On August 15 we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary - one of the most important events in the history of Christianity. August in the Catholic Church is also a month of sobriety; a time we should devote to prayer, abstaining from alcohol and partying.

August is considered by many to be the most important Marian monthOf course, right after May. Therefore, in August it is worthwhile to pray the litanies addressed to the Mother of God. These include: litany of Loretto, the Dominican litany, the Litany of Fatima, the Marian Piarist litany, the litany to Our Lady of Consolation, the litany from the mysteries of Mary's life, the biblical litany, and the litany for the forgiveness of sins to Mary Mother of God.

As we know, August is considered the month of sobriety. The patron saint of sobriety is St. John the Baptist. August is therefore an ideal month to pray the Litany of John the Baptist. During this litany we can pray for moderation in the consumption of alcohol; for protection against the sin of binge drinking; and ask for support for those struggling with alcohol addiction.
