When it was created Bible? The Bible is the most important book for Catholics. From it we learn about the truths of the faith; we learn about the lives of important figures in the development of Christianity, including the Jesus Christ. The word Bible itself comes from the Greek biblionwhich means books. The Holy Scriptures are divided into the Old and the New Testament. The former is a collection of 46 books, including the so-called Torah, the Jewish holy book, which includes: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. The New Testament contains 27 books, including the four Gospels, from which we learn about the life and teaching of Christ.

When was the Bible written? It is estimated that the Old Testament was written from the 13th century BC to the 1st century BC, or over 1200 years. In turn, the creation of the New Testament lasted from 51 AD to 96 AD. It is worth noting that the Old Testament was written in Hebrew and Greek (there are also isolated phrases in Aramaic). The New Testament, on the other hand, was written exclusively in Greek.

Initially, only highly placed clergy who could read and knew the languages studied the Bible. It was not until translations of the Bible appeared that it came into common use. The first of these was the SeptuagintIt is a translation of the Old Testament into Greek. At the turn of the fourth and fifth centuries, the Wulgata, a translation of the Bible into Latin. The first Polish translation was The James Uncle Bible, published in 1599.
